Introduced by the author, string time crystals conceptualize a state of matter that defies the time-translation symmetry inherent in classical physics. In this theoretical system, strings exhibit periodic motion in their ground state, akin to the spatial periodicity in crystal lattices, effectively breaking the symmetry of time translation in a predictable, clock-like pattern.
